Our Y is beginning the new year with exciting new fitness offerings to make 2022 your healthiest year ever. With dozens of new group exercise classes, there’s something new for everyone to enjoy at the Y.
GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES
Each week the South Shore YMCA runs dozens of group fitness classes for members of all ages and abilities. Discover low-impact and beginner classes, cardio fitness, dance, Zumba, Pilates, group cycling and Yoga, plus more advanced options like cycling, boot camps, Les Mills, and functional training classes. Group exercise classes are open to South Shore YMCA members aged 14 and older (members under 18 must be accompanied by an adult). Quincy Branch:
- Roll & Release Yoga: A 45-minute yoga class incorporating a foam roller, great for stretching and releasing tension, runs Sundays at 8 am beginning January 9.
- Yoga: Consciously linking the movement of the body to the movement of the breath, these classes are a dynamic, flowing practice that leads you through a balanced series of postures to strengthen and build flexibility, promoting physical stamina and a sense of deep inner calm, runs Sundays at 9 am beginning January 9.
- Zumba: Designed to bring people together to sweat it on, mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Runs Mondays at 7 pm beginning January 10, Wednesdays at 1 pm beginning January 12, Fridays at 1 pm beginning January 14, and Saturdays at 9 am beginning January 15.
- Cycling: Focuses on aerobic endurance conditioning and aerobic interval training, with brief, high-intensity bursts that push past your anaerobic threshold. Runs Tuesdays at 5 pm beginning January 4, Wednesdays at 5:30 pm beginning January 5, and Thursdays at 5 pm beginning January 6.
- Barre Pilates: A hybrid workout class combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga, and strength training. Runs Thursdays at 6 pm beginning January 6.
- Pilates: Fridays at 8 am (beginning January 7)

- Zumba: Designed to bring people together to sweat it on, mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 pm.
- Body Pump: The ideal workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned, and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, instructors will coach you through the scientifically-backed moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation, and great music. Runs Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm.
- Cycling: Focuses on aerobic endurance conditioning and aerobic interval training, with brief, high-intensity bursts that push past your anaerobic threshold, runs Saturdays at 8 am.
